Row ends for Rowers
28Mar07
THE split between Mosman Rowers Club and the rowing club is now official following Sunday's extraordinary general meeting.
But the break-up is amicable - after a well-publicised tussle between rowers and associate members - and the clubs will continue to work together to maintain their 95-year relationship.
The newly invigorated licensed club at Mosman Bay will be renamed Mosman Rowers Ltd with $150,000 while the rowers will keep $945,000 for the refurbishment of their Pearl Bay boathouse. They will operate under the name Mosman Rowing Club Inc.
As well as $150,000, the licensed club's debts will be paid.
The licensed club will operate with a new board of nine.
To meet NSW Maritime requirements, the Rowers will organise activities such as kayaking and sailing.
Director Gavin Hart said this would also provide greater community participation at Mosman Bay as well as providing a premier social outlet for the community and amateur sporting groups.
Memberships for the Mosman Rowers Ltd for the 2007-08 year are now available for $100.
A $50 social membership is also available.
